Hoops/2 Read.me Information 1/10/94
1. This version of Hoops/2 may be freely copied and distributed.
The author encourages such to spread the news of Hoops/2's
existence. Please note the changes in this Demoware version as
listed on the "Demoware Information" pulldown under the "Help"
menu choice.
2. Hoops2 requires OS/2 2.0 or OS/2 2.0 for Windows or greater to
run. Any version of Warp is acceptable. It also requires that
REXX be installed (automatically done in Warp, optional in prior
versions of OS/2.)
3. To install Hoops/2, run the INSTALL program on the diskette.
INSTALL will prompt you for a directory into which to install
Hoops/2. INSTALL will then copy the following files into that
directory and create an Hoops/2 icon on your desktop. The icon
can be used to invoke the Hoops/2 product.
HOOPS2.EXE - Hoops/2 executable module
HOOPS2.HLP - Hoops/2 help text file
HOOPS2.ICO - Hoops/2 icon file
HOOPS2.INI - Hoops/2 ini (state) data file
HOOPS2.I94 - backup copy of the ini file
READ.ME - this file
VROBJ.DLL - the VX-REXX run time library
4. Please select the "General Hoops/2 Help" pulldown under the
"Help" menu choice for tips on using Hoops/2 and on running a
pool.
5. A backup copy of the .INI file is included as .I94. Both files
are in an editable ASCII text format. The .INI data is the
actual data from the 1994 men's basketball tournament with 22
contestants. The COINFLIP had a phenomenal record in the East
region that year! Note that Hoops/2 gets all of its data from
the HOOPS2.INI file. By managing the data in this file, the
user may actually run multiple pools, or look back at historical
pool data. If the .INI file becomes corrupt, erase it and
HOOPS/2 will create a new one, but all contestant and team data
will be lost.
6. Note that the last three columns in the Results list box contain
the region numbers of the finalists and the winner of the
tournament (see data beneath "22W"). The data contained beneath
the "RegionFinalists" and "Final4" are seed numbers. You must
relate the region number of the final 2 and winnner to the seed
number of the Final4 data to determine the seed numbers (and
team names) for the finalists and winner.
7. If you like Hoops/2, please tell your friends. If you do not,
please let me know and why not. If you have suggestions for
improvements, let me know them as well.
